In May 2017, my mom was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. It took a significant toll on me when I found out she had breast cancer. She received chemotherapy to get rid of cancer.

While she was getting treated, she still worked her caregiving job and even played tambourines with her band friends. That helped her beat cancer, overall. Later on, she got surgery and they had to remove both breasts since cancer turned into stage 4 limpadima breast cancer.

After that, she was out of work for the last four weeks. After those four weeks, she went back to work and while she recovered from the surgery, she still played tambourine with the bands.

Later on, she received radiation, which was very hard on her. She had to get daily radiation for two months. After that, they performed the screening again and tested her for breast cancer, again. The testing showed there was no more breast cancer.

When I found out, it was a huge relief knowing that I won’t lose her to cancer. She is still feeling weak from the radiation and working fewer hours now but at least I still have her by my side.

The next step for her is to get one more surgery which will be the end of March. She will once again be out of work for four weeks. After that, everything will be back to normal again.

I’M GLAD TO HAVE HER AND WORK WITH HER AS A CAREGIVER.
