What is acne? A lot of people, especially the teenagers are dealing with this skin condition. The word acne comes from the Greek word “acme” which means “the highest spot” but it was misspelled at that time, instead of ‘n’ the people were using ‘m’.

So, acne is also known as Acne Vulgaris and results in appearing pimples on the neck, the face, the back, the chest and the shoulders. It also involves the oil glands of the hair follicles where an excessive secretion of oil is done.

The scientists have discovered that there are few ways in treating acne and its triggers. Here are some tips on how to reduce acne condition or prevent it if you see some of the symptoms that lead to development of acne.

  1. Keep the face clean
  • This means that regular washing of your skin will reduce the acne. According to the scientists the daily washing removes the dead cells from the skin and the extra oil that is found on the surface of the skin. It is recommended to wash the face twice a day because a lot of washing can even worsen the condition. Use warm water and appropriate face cleanser. You also need to choose the best soap for your type of skin, since the soaps are not all the same and you can’t use whatever product it is.
  • Avoid scrubbing the skin and applying some face masks because some irritation might show up. Remember; always wash the face twice a day if you want to reduce the acne.
  1. Make sure that you move any trace of makeup before going to bed
  • Do not go to bed while you still have some traces of makeup on your face skin. Make sure that you have removed it all and only then go to sleep. The makeup that will stay for longer time on your face can clog the pores and lead to the development of acne. Also make sure that your makeup is oil free in order to avoid the excessive secretion of it. If you can’t find such a product you can use face powder instead.Young teenage girl with pimple
  1. Moisturize the skin and choose the right moisturizer
  • The moisturizing of your skin might reduce the development of acne since the moisturizers contain the needed ingredients, so you will just have to find the right moisturizer and apply it on your skin.
  • Most of the moisturizers are drying the skin, so make sure that you use some that minimizes the skin peeling and the drying. There are different types of products for dry, oily skin or a combination of both.
  1. Do not touch your face all the time
  • This means that you have to put away the hands from your face. You must not touch it all the time because an irritation might show up. You are touching a lot of things during the day, so you are not spending your time in the bathroom washing your hands every time you open the door, or take the laptop or look for some clothes. Keep in mind that no matter how clean your house or environment where you are staying is, there is dirt, bacteria and a lot of microorganisms that can get on your hands and when you touch the face to worsen the skin condition. Even inflammation can be developed if you are not taking enough care.
  1. Change the pillow case more often
  • Instead of buying products to heal your acne, you can spend few dollars in changing the pillow case. This is not that difficult. Even though you are going to bed clean, there is always dirt, sweat and dead skin on the pillow case. Plus if you are not washing your face and you are going to sleep like that, then even worse. Make sure that you keep the bed clean and the pillow case changed.
  1. Feed the skin
  • Meaning that you will have to intake the needed ingredients in your daily meals in order to have healthy skin. You will have to avoid some greasy food and increase the intake of vegetables and fruits in your diet. Also you might need to avoid the dairy products since the acne might be triggered.
  1. Choose makeup that is acne-friendly
  • Make sure that the makeup you use is not causing any harm to your skin and does not have any triggers in developing acne. Before buying the product you can always consult with a dermatologist and ask for the needed care.
  • You should not focus on those products that will hide everything on your face so you can look good; this might be even dangerous and can worsen the skin condition as well.
