Taking Care of Eczema and Other Skin Conditions

966

When eczema becomes a daily battle, it can really impact your everyday life. It can be even more frustrating when your child has eczema. The itching and pain are beyond words. My son had eczema really bad behind his knees and the inside of his elbows. In the summer it would get worse from sweating and itching. In the winter it was dry and nonstop itching. I felt lost and did not feel like I could help. Until my youngest son had the same condition. I could not believe I was already applying a steroid cream on my baby’s skin every day twice a day. That is when I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I researched every cream that was considered good for eczema. Every cream had one or two of these ingredients: Cacao butter, shea butter, jojoba oil, and glycerin.

These four ingredients individually seemed to provide some relief but not get rid of eczema entirely. There was also not enough of it in all the products I looked into because the water was always the largest ingredient, which means the product was washed down and I was really not getting what I needed. Then preservatives were added to make the creams have a long shelf life. The benefits of “good ingredients” was lost and non-effective.

If I could somehow have a cream with all these ingredients, I would be happy. I learned that to try to control eczema I had to figure out how to kill the infection and then apply moisture on the skin and retain it.

Now that I knew what was needed to make a product function well, I needed to concentrate on the key ingredients.

Like many moms with kids with Eczema, I had no one to help me.

These 5 ingredients were considered to be very good in helping the skin get rid of the infection and retain moisture.

  • Shea Butter
  • Cocoa Butter
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Glycerin
  • Epsom Salts

But there was not enough of it in all the other products I looked into.

I knew putting these ingredients together will work. The ability of their healing power was great.

To make sure the maximum healing potential was reached I had to make sure I did not alter or change them. The key ingredients in Brenese creams were carefully researched and vetted by a frustrated mom.

Vitamins A (Retinoids), E (alpha-tocopherol a leading antioxidant) and F (essential fatty acids) have been praised in the cosmetic and beauty industry on their capacity to help the skin heal. The four ingredients in Brenese Rejuvenating Cream has these vitamins and antioxidants in abundance. Synthetic derivatives of vitamin A (Retinoids) are known to cause side effects on people with sensitive skin.

Africans, South Americans, and the Native Indians women have used Cacao butter, shea butter and Jojoba oil for generations with no issues. These women worked all day in the fields and managed to keep their skin healthy. If I managed to get rid of the synthetic ingredients all will be well with our skin.

Shea Butter

Shea Butter is made from the nuts harvested from Shear-Keratin trees. The trees can live up to 200yrs. In West Africa, shea butter was used as a trading commodity. Queen Cleopatra was known to have used Shea butter for her skin. There is recorded history of African caravans carrying shea butter in clay pots. It is known as one of the best moisturizer and emollient. It is added to soaps and lotions to increase their effectiveness. It is known to have been used in Africa to heal skin ailments including but not limited to burns, skin conditions, ulcerated skin, stretch marks, and dryness.

Vitamins A, C, and F found in Shea butter help with circulation and cell regeneration. It is mostly used to fade scars, treat eczemaacne, severely dry skin, dark spots, skin and lessen the appearance wrinkles. It is made more effective by its ability to spread easily without clogging the pores.

Cocoa Butter

It is the fat extracted from cacao seeds (cocoa beans). The beans are roasted and pressed to separate the fat. The leftovers are used to make cocoa powder. It is also known as Theobroma oil. It is considered one of the greatest cream for healing the skin naturally.  It’s melting temperature is just below the human temperature, making it easy for the skin to absorb it. Cacao Butter protects the skin by forming a protective barrier to hold the moisture in and since it is loaded with phytochemicals it helps promote blood flow to the top layer of the skin. It is recommended for treating skin conditions including eczema and dermatitis. It is considered safe to use by pregnant women to help minimize the appearance of stretch marks.

Jojoba Oil

Native Americans have long used jojoba oil to help heal sores and wounds. Jojoba oil has anti-microbial properties which discourage the growth of some bacterial and fungal microbes that attack the skin. It’s chemical composition closely resembles the secretions from the sebaceous glands (skin’s natural oily). It is a colorless liquid that has no odor and is easily absorbed and rarely causes allergic reactions. It can be used in the most sensitive skin. Jojoba Oil contains vitamin E, B complex vitamins, and minerals such as silicon, chromium, copper, and zinc. Jojoba Oil contains the minerals which in their weak form are used against bacterial and fungal infection.

In the cosmetic industry, Jojoba oil is used as a cleanser, conditioner, moisturizer, and softener for the skin. It helps to reduce wrinkles, lighten and help heal scars.

When the skin’s natural oil production decreases due to age, pollutants, or environmental stresses Jojoba oil can be used to replicate it. It is also easily absorbed by the skin.

Glycerin

It is a liquid that is derived from plants. It is a humectant meaning that draws moisture to your skin and helps slow down the evaporation of water from your skin. This enables the skin to keep more moisture and promote the regeneration of new skin cells. Therefore, keeping your skin hydrated at all times. It is odorless, sweet-tasting and has a syrupy consistency.

Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom Salts)

Epsom salts are mostly used in baths to promote relaxation and to aid the body in the production of serotonin to promote sleep. Before I knew of their power I enjoyed them in baths for a spa-like effect at home. Soaking an infected wound with Epsom salts can help draw out the infection and they boost the effect of medications. It can be added to warm water to create a natural cleanser and dehydrator to pull out the pus from the zits, boils carbuncles and abscesses. Magnesium sulfate solution has also been shown to be an effective aid in the fight against blemishes and acne when applied directly to problematic areas, usually in poultice form.

Zinc Oxide

Zinc oxide is a naturally occurring non-organic mineral. It is a white powder that does not dissolve in water. It is the main ingredient in sunscreens because of its ability to provide a waterproof barrier between the sun and the skin. That is why it is mostly used in diaper rash creams because of its ability to keep the skin dry.

A 2007 study shows that when zinc oxide is applied topically on wounds and cuts, it can accelerate the healing process. It can be applied directly to wounds or with bandages. I chose to add it in the cream because of its proven ability to heal.

Brenese Rejuvenating Cream Major Ingredients

Shea Butter: Has Vitamins A, C, and F that are easily absorbed in the skin and has been used in Africa since the age of the Pharaohs and Cleopatra.

Cacao Butter: Perfect moisturizer that has been used for thousands of years in South America. We also all enjoy the leftovers after the cream has been extracted.

Jojoba Oil: Anti-microbial that heals sensitive skin without side effects. It has been used by the Indians in America for generations and also resembles the skin’s natural oil.

Zinc Oxide: Enormous refractive index, the whitening agent.

Epsom Salts: Dehydrating agent that helps to draw out infection. Fights against blemishes and acne

Before putting all these ingredients together, I used them individually. I wanted to see the benefits of each ingredient before they were put together to create Brenese Rejuvenating Cream. The cream was used on me, my children and family members. It helps pull out the infection while at the same time hydrating and healing the skin. It has completely gotten rid of my kid’s eczema (just like everything else different products work differently on everybody).

What gives Brenese Rejuvenating cream superiority besides being created by a mom for her children is that worked very well for everyone who used it (friends and families). The creams have the balance needed to maintain healthy skin.

It is self-preserving (No preservatives have been added). As a mother, I have had peace in knowing that my children have an opportunity to take care of their skin in a healthy way without all the chemicals.

It has never been tested on animals.
