I was diagnosed when I was 12. I would stay in my room for weeks at a time.

I self-harmed and struggled my way through life. I choose to take myself off the medication because it seemed even on it, I wanted to spend my life in bed. I changed my diet, changed my career and changed my friend group.

Being around people who were happy and healthy made it easier to pull myself out of the moods I would get in, even now. Being in college at my age has been really hard, I’m the oldest in all of my classes.

It took me longer than I would have liked to pick my career but it’s made things so much better for me.

Medication didn’t work for me but it has shown so many improvements for my friends and my family.

I figured out how to take care of myself and manage my life without it. It’s hard, but it can be done.
