I was suffering from intense pain in the abdomen area.

Went to my doctor who was an elderly gentleman. He performed a pelvic exam. During the exam, I was in extreme pain and asked if it should hurt so bad.

He was bent down looking at ” that area” and asked his nurse, “Can you see it?” I sat up and asked what they were looking for. I had thoughts of a lost ring, watch, I didn’t know. He asked his nurse again. I am in extreme pain.

He then discovers my uterus is tipped. Retroverted is the medical term. And because of that, he couldn’t see it I guess and kept banging the speculum into it and that was very painful.

It was something that happened on its own. Many women have this happen to them. I was able to get pregnant, carry to term and have a vaginal delivery.

It did make menstrual cramps much more intense. I learned to place my hands under my hips to raise them during other pelvic exams which created no pain and easy access to the uterus. It scared me to hear the Doctor say to his nurse, ” can you see it?” while in that position.

Not what you want to hear.
