I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia five or six years ago. I thought that it would be impossible to live with it. I had been exposed to every therapy possible. Physical therapy, Aqua therapy, Needling, Cortisone, and Ultrasound. I had a breast reduction to help with the back pain but nothing helped for a long-term. I don’t have a high pain threshold, I proved myself wrong.
I work full time doing activities for an Assisted Living facility, It’s a very active job and what I have found is that if you stay active you can compensate for your pain. When I stop being on the go, I find that my pain worsens and I get very tired and take a nap.

I like to spend time with my girls and my friends and so I have to have power through the pain and not let go. So that they don’t take pity on me and we can still do what everyone else does. I find that what motivates me the most is that I want to live a full life and not miss a thing especially the special moments in life.
My daughters are very supportive and they mean the world to me. I try very hard to hide my pain from them as much as possible because I don’t like to worry them. I feel that you need to keep an active life as much as you can so that you don’t allow the fibromyalgia win.
