On February 1st, 2013 I had been sick for 1 week and thought it was the flu.
This day was horrible, everything I drank or ate was like acid in the mouth and I knew something wasn’t right.
I laid down and my right kidney started hurting as if someone was punching me in my side. So at that time, I thought kidney stones. An hour later my left kidney joined the excruciating pain I was already in. I decided the ER was where I needed to be.

First thing was checking my blood sugar and glucose meter wasn’t reading it. Gave the docs my urine sample and 2 minutes later they came in and told me I was diabetic.
I’m ketoacidosis and they then admitted me to the ICU for 5 days. I had to be taught how to control my diabetes and how to change my diet.

Now that I know that I am diabetic, everything changed – my life has been different since but I am healthier and in shape.
