Diabetes is a global epidemic and millions of people are diagnosed every year. Unhealthy eating habits and sedentary lifestyles has quickened the spread of Type 2 diabetes in all developed countries and some developing nations. Celebrities are no exception! Many famous people suffering from diabetes. They can control their hectic schedules even though they are diabetic.

It is first important to note that there are major differences between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. Type 1 is autoimmune-related and occurs when the body is unable to produce insulin. Type 2 is the most common form, but is metabolic in nature. Lifestyle changes can be made to control and prevent Type 2 diabetes, but not with Type 1.

Instead of allowing her disease keep her from doing what she did, she made major lifestyle changes and handled her disease successfully.

The most important thing Halle did was to adopt a diet which cut out foods high in sugar, processed carbohydrates, and fats. She cut back on red meat but added more fresh vegetables, chicken, and fish to her diet. Halle checks her blood sugar repeatedly every day to take her insulin when needed. Her personal trainer is also helpful in her routine to stay fit.

Other celebrities are also living normally with the ailment including talk show host Larry King, American Idol Judge Randy Jackson and beautiful actress Salma Hayek.

There are many famous people with both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. They are great role models for managing and living with diabetes. With the help of a good doctor and the right treatments, diabetics can have a long and productive lifespan.
