Depression and Bipolar Disorder Suck

I encourage anybody that’s going through depression to seek help. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder for about 6 years. It’s when your mood goes up and down and it’s a problem. I noticed that when my mood went down it went to a really scary place. I was feeling hopeless and almost to the point of killing myself.

My kids began to notice and that’s when I sought out help. The worst thing in the world is when your two-year-old to asks you are you okay and gives you a kiss while telling you to stop crying. My daughter would into in my room and give me her teddy bear then lay with me to make me feel better. Sometimes, you just think that it’s going to be okay and that you can shake off the sadness. I was not able to do that on my own, though. I felt like life was dealing me a messed up hand and I was able to cope with it.

I remember having to call my sister to come over and get the kids so that I could get myself together. Sometimes, it took a few days but one time, it took a month of me committing myself to the crisis hospital in order to get myself right. The good thing was that I was able to see the signs and do something about it. I know that there are people out there who are ashamed or allows their pride to prevent them from seeking help.

I am the first to admit that this was the issue with me, but I am here to say, put your pride aside. You will get better once you identify the problem an, in most cases, you just need to be aware of what is going on. Other times, you need to be medicated but you only have to worry about that in very rare situations.
