I suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and I’m going to tell you why you should listen to your parent’s advice.
After years of smoking, which started when I was a kid and resulted in me becoming addicted, I got pneumonia and could hardly find the strength to even go to the bathroom. Pneumonia only exasperated the symptoms of COPD which had been diagnosed at the same time as pneumonia.

The lack of air to my lungs was so debilitating, making me tired all the time. I would be out breath from just going to the mailbox to fetch the mail. This certainly lead to me finally quit smoking cigarettes but it was already too late.
